Fermentation Range FAQs

The Pathfinder Fermentation range is mostly made up of our yeast and nutrient blends, SynertoTM designed for the production of high ABV sugar washes for the production of FMBs, RTDs, and hard seltzers and sodas and well as spirit washes for rum, gin, or vodka. We also sell nutrient on its own under NutreteTM, and straight yeast strains for brewing and distilling under YeastraTM.
The nutrient mix developed specifically for the selected strain of yeast in each product in the SynertoTM range has gone through rigorous quality checks – and in some cases, years of development – to optimise the performance of the yeast during fermentation in optimal conditions. These products are often referred to as Turbo Yeasts due to the speed and high ABVs achieved, thanks to the specialist nutrient mix.
No, you don’t need to add any additional nutrient with these products. Our yeast and nutrient products are expertly crafted to ensure the yeast and nutrient complex is in the optimum ratio when pitching. Additional nutrient could be detrimental to fermentation quality.

SynertoTM products do benefit from higher rates of oxygenation that you would see with beer. For exact values please refer to the TDS sheet for your product.
While you can, we would recommend using full packs where possible. SynertoTM in particular is a mixture of different sized powders which can settle during transportation, meaning a pitch may not be homogeneous.
Functional Range FAQs
Functional ingredients are components added to food and beverages that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition. These ingredients are designed to support specific functions in the body, such as improving energy, boosting immunity, enhancing cognitive performance, or supporting gut health. Common examples include vitamins, minerals, adaptogens, probiotics, and plant extracts. We have developed a range of off-the shelf blends to cover a wide range of functions and can develop bespoke recipes for your specific requirements.

The demand for functional beverages is rapidly growing as consumers increasingly seek products that support their health and wellbeing. Developing a range of functional drinks allows alcoholic and non-alcoholic brands to provide a convenient and tasty product that meets this demand while differentiating themselves in a competitive market.
An antioxidant is a substance that helps protect the body’s cells from damage caused by free radicals – unstable molecules that can contribute to ageing and various health conditions. Antioxidants are naturally found in many fruits, vegetables, and plant-based ingredients. Including antioxidants in products can help support overall health and wellness.
Adaptogens and nootropics are both popular functional ingredients, but they serve different purposes. Adaptogens are natural substances, often derived from plants, that help the body adapt to stress and maintain balance. Nootropics, on the other hand, are ingredients that support cognitive function, such as memory, focus, and mental clarity. While some ingredients may have overlapping benefits, adaptogens are primarily associated with stress resilience, whereas nootropics are linked to brain performance.

Prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics all play important roles in supporting gut health, but they function differently:

  • Prebiotics are types of dietary fibre that feed beneficial bacteria in the gut.
  • Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria that help maintain a healthy gut microbiome.
  • Postbiotics are the beneficial compounds produced by probiotics as they break down prebiotics.

Together, they work synergistically to support digestion, immunity, and overall wellbeing.
